Ubiquitous Computing, Postdoctoral Scholar
Michele Spitulnik
University of California, Berkeley
Michele Spitulnik is currently a Postdoctoral Scholar with the Ubiquitous theme
team. Michele obtained her Ph.D. in Science Education from the University of
Michgan. Her interests include designing and supporting inquiry-based science
learning environments, integrating technology into science curriculum, engaging
students in model building, and working with pre-service and practicing teachers
to create supportive environments for inquiry. Michele is involved with many
projects including identifying design principles for educational ubiquitous
computing, studying student and teaching outcomes throughout longitudinal use
of technology-based curricular projects, and researching students' model building
process during an intensive online model building project.
Michele taught high school chemistry and physics in a specialized math, science,
and technology school in Michigan. She taught science methods courses to undergraduate
and masters level students pursuing science teaching certification. She also designed
and taught an online course about supporting inquiry in the classroom to practicing
teachers.
