Melissa Koch
SRI International
Melissa Koch is a social scientist,
specializing in the design and product strategy of online learning environments. At SRI
International, she works with the Tapped In team as the Director of Product Strategy. She
also co-led the prototype design of NSF's CLTNet. At RealCommunities
(http://www.realcommunities.com), she led
the development of Applications of Purpose to be used in a variety of online environments
to enable community members to learn from one another. She has developed several Internet
products, curriculum, and teacher professional development materials for the K-12 education
market while working with organizations such as Computer Curriculum Corporation, The Learning
Company, PBS, and O'Reilly & Associates. At The Edison Project, she worked closely with the
core development team as the Technology Research Associate. She has also written several
articles on technology and education, and co-authored a book, NetLearning: Why Teachers
Use the Internet. Melissa has an M.A. in Mass Communications from Northwestern
University, with a Telecommunications Science, Management, and Policy certificate.
