Dr. James Gray

James Gray is a graduate of the Human Development and Psychology program at the Harvard University Graduate School of Education. Previous academic work includes the study of child development, effects of television on children, and interactive media design. His teaching experience spans many different ages and settings, including preschool, special education, a summer program in science and technology for adolescents, and graduate-level courses in interactive media design, cognitive development, interactive learning, and the interplay of culture, cognition, and technology. Current research interests focus on the sociocultural analysis of on-line communication and collaboration in educational contexts, including investigations in three areas: (1) social processes of learning; (2) construction of knowledge, understanding and meaning; and (3) fostering intercultural understandings through the design of on-line learning environments.
