Assessment of Learning in Technology Environments WorkshopCILT's Assessment Theme Team invites you to participate in its workshop, Assessment of Learning in Technology Environments. This workshop will be held prior to AERA Monday, April 1, 8:00 AM - 2:00 PM, in Ballroom A at the Sheraton New Orleans, one of the conference head quarter hotels for AERA in New Orleans. The workshop is the third in a series of assessment workshops hosted by the Assessment Theme Team within the Center for Innovative Learning Technologies. CILT, funded by the National Science Foundation, is a consortium of researchers and practitioners formed to stimulate the development and implementation of important, technology-enabled solutions to critical problems in K-14 science, mathematics, engineering, and technology (SMET) learning. Co-principal investigators include:
John Bransford and Edys Quellmalz, Assessment Theme Team leaders, will lead an interactive discussion on technology-supported assessment including relevant research, theory, and practice. Researchers in the CILT leadership community from other themes, Visualizations and Modeling, Ubiquitous Computing, and Community Tools, will synthesize their theme activities and highlight assessment issues and partnership opportunities that may evolve into CILT Seed Grants. CILT Seed Grants are given annually to support innovative multi-institutional projects that hold promise for advancing the learning technology field. A limited number of seed grants are available this year, in the range of $6,000 - $15,000 for promising proposals that emerge from this workshop. Sean Brophy and Jason Ravitz, former postdoctoral fellows for the Assessment Theme, will provide summaries of previous assessment Seed Grants and facilitate discussion groups. GOALS of the workshop are:
A registration fee of $15 will be collected at the door. A continental breakfast and lunch is included. If you plan to attend, please send email to Anders Rosenquist anders.rosenquist@sri.com.
