Description

Join us to explore innovative uses of learning technologies with special emphasis on visualization, modeling, learning communities, and ubiquitous computing devices. Individuals conducting research on these topics, interested in joining researchers investigating these topics, or concerned about technology and education are invited to participate.

This seminar is closely related to the Center for Innovative Learning Technologies.

We will jointly define a focus for the seminar around:

  • Identifying exemplary uses of technology in science and mathematics instruciton and forming partnerships to improve their impact.
  • Establishing a program of research, policy analysis, and software design that enables all students (K to 14) to take full advantage of visualization, modeling, and representation in all aspects of their learning.
  • Designing "netcourses" that build learning communities for teacher professional development.

Seminar activities:

  • review and analysis of innovative technologies.
  • review and analysis of recent research on innovative technologies.
  • experimentation with on-line discussion tools.

Seminar expectations:

Participants will individually or jointly undertake a small project and present their results during the final weeks of the semester. The group will work as a partnership helping participants carry out their projects with mutual respect and support.
